Stupid Cupid - Connie Francis 1958 {Stereo}
1958....#14 U.S. Billboard Hot 100 / This DES stereo video has been abridged to support the hard work of its creators. Without sales of the CD on which this first-time DES song appears there can be no more new stereo like this based on mono originals. Please visit www.ericrecords.com to order and express your support! To find out more about spectral editing and sound source separation, go to http://www.monotostereo.info/ "Stupid Cupid" is a song written by Howard Greenfield and Neil Sedaka which became a hit for Connie Francis in 1958. After almost three years of failure, Connie Francis finally had a hit in the spring of 1958 with a rock ballad version of the standard "Who's Sorry Now?" Unfortunately, her next pair of singles were less successful. I'm Sorry I Made You Cry only reached #36 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Heartaches failed to chart at all. Francis recalls: "I knew I had to come up with a hit on the third record. It was crucial. I listened to every publisher's song in New York, but nothing was hitting me." Eventually Don Kirshner of Aldon Music had Greenfield and Sedaka, who were staff writers for Aldon, visit Francis at her home to pitch their songs, but she and close friend Bobby Darin argued that the slow, dense ballads they were offering didn't appeal to the teenager market. Francis asked if they had something faster and bouncier. Greenfield asked Sedaka to play "Stupid Cupid", an uptempo number intended for the Shepherd Sisters. Sedaka objected that Francis, a "classy lady," would be insulted to be pitched such a puerile song; but Greenfield dismissed Sedaka's objection, saying, "What have we got to lose, she hates everything we wrote, doesn't she? Play it already!" After hearing only a few lines Francis recalls: "I started jumping up and down and I said, 'That's it! You guys got my next record!'"

Patsy Cline Spoke These Chilling Words Before Her Plane Crashed
Patsy Cline sadly left us at the young age of 30. But it’s clear that her music will live for generations to come. Some say that she’s gotten her due as one of America’s greatest country stars while others may feel that she needs a resurgence for new fans. ▬Contents of this video▬ 00:00 - Intro 00:36 - Early Life 01:38 - Patsy Gets Discovered 02:53 - Patsy’s Life and Career 04:18 - The Plane Crash 06:18 - Patsy’s Legacy 07:27 - Outro Like this content? Her achievements are also remarkable considering her humble beginnings. Patsy was born as Virginia Patterson Hensley in Winchester, Virginia. The Hensley family moved around often as their financial woes were all too common. When Samuel Hensley abandoned the family, it was up to young Virginia to take up odd jobs to make ends meet. At a young age, she discovered that she had a talent for singing country songs. She performed at honky tonks over the weekends and eventually decided to pursue music as a full-time career. She eventually adopted the moniker “Patsy Cline” and performed in local nightclubs with popular country bands. In the 1950s, she became a household name when she began performing on popular TV shows that featured country performers. In the mid-1950s and early 1960s, she began releasing records of her music. At a young age, she became a huge star, and it was clear that she was destined to become an icon of country music. Sadly, her life would be cut tragically short due to a plane crash. But what’s even more chilling are the words that Patsy Cline spoke before her plane crashed. It was almost as if she predicted her impending death. The story is unsettling and is often discussed as much as her incredible talents. Nevertheless, decades after her passing her albums still sell, and her songs are featured in major films and TV shows. Let’s learn more about the life and career of Patsy Cline… Patsy Cline Spoke These Chilling Words Before Her Plane Crashed

Wednesday: Finding The Patsy Cline Crash Site | March 6th, 1963
It was a Wednesday (yes, I spelled it wrong in the video which is ridiculous because it’s my dogs name…*facepalm*) morning when the first person laid eyes on the wreckage that claimed the lives of Patsy Cline, Hawkshaw Hawkins, Cowboy Copas & Randy Hughes. I've spent months researching this plane crash, trying to find more, or talk to someone who went out to the location that day, but it seems most of these folks have gone with time. The best information and images I can find of the crash come from two sources mainly... Jerry Pfifer and The Nashville Tennessean photojournalists who were there. The purpose of this video is to correct the misconception set forth in the movie "Sweet Dreams", piece together all the information into one story, and narrate the tale from the day they found the Princess of Country Music and her contemporaries in a forest of Camden, Tennessee. Also, I would love to perform at events benefitting Appalachia - please see contact below. I'm still writing because I have no idea if anyone actually reads these things so leave a comment if you go this far. Cheers, TAS Works Cited: Cowboy Copas - Alabam. YouTube.
