On this day in 1923, Hank Williams Sr. was born in Mount Olive, Alabama. Williams would go on to successfully fuse honky-tonk, blues, and folk music into a unique country western style entirely his own. I think it can even be argued that the classic twang that most modern country artists emulate today originated with Hank Williams' actual singing voice. But he didn't just influence country music, his songs have been covered by the likes of Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones!
